New Orleans swamps Spring Hill 95-66 in season opener

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Ezekiel Charles and Amari Haynes scored 17 points apiece as New Orleans opened the season with a resounding 95-66 win over Division III Spring Hill on Tuesday night.

New Orleans broke away midway in the first half, going on an 18-0 run to go ahead 41-14. The Privateers went into the break leading 50-22. They stretched that to a 71-30 advantage with 14:39 remaining in the game.

Charles hit three from distance, going 6 of 9 from the floor with six rebounds and two blocks. Haynes was 6 of 10 from the floor. Bryson Robinson added 14 points and Gerrale Gates chipped in 11 with seven rebounds and three assists for New Orleans.

The Privateers scored 36 points off of Spring Hill's 29 turnovers.

Brandon Fischer led Spring Hill with 16 points, hitting 8 of 11 from the floor. Justin Allison added 11 points and Ryan Littel chipped in 10.
