Elijah Brown scored 31 points to help New Mexico beat New Mexico State 83-74 on Sunday night in a game marred by Lobos forward Devon Williams' collapse midway through the second half.

Williams was taken to a hospital, and New Mexico coach Craig Neal said the player has a neck injury.

The Lobos (2-0) have won nine straight on their rival's home court and 14 of the last 17 Rio Grande Rivalry contests. The Aggies (1-1) have not beaten New Mexico in Las Cruces since the 2007-08 season.

The son of former NBA coach Mike Brown, the younger Brown sat out last season as a transfer from Butler. He scored 16 points in the team's season-opening win over Texas Southern. Against the Aggies he knocked down 8 of 17 shots from the field, 2 of 7 from distance and converted 13 of 14 attempts from the free throw line.

Cullen Neal had 18 points for New Mexico.

Pascal Siakam scored 23 points and Ian Baker added another 19 for New Mexico State.
