Nebraska reserve Christian Standhardinger is leaving the team to explore other basketball options.

Coach Doc Sadler said Friday night that Standhardinger would consider transferring to another school or playing professionally overseas.

Standhardinger averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in six games. Sadler suspended the sophomore forward the last four games for academic reasons. Sadler recruited Standhardinger out of Germany, and he averaged 8.1 points in 3.8 rebounds in 16 games after becoming eligible last season.

Standhardinger said in a statement that it was a hard decision to leave. He said he's a ''young man who is trying to make the right decision to be able to eventually provide and take care of my family.''
