Nebraska-Omaha powers by Denver 80-69

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) C.J. Carter scored 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting and added four assists to lead Nebraska-Omaha to an 80-69 victory over Denver on Saturday.

Devin Patterson finished with 13 points and five assists and Marcus Tyus added 12 points and six rebounds for the Mavericks (8-11, 2-5 Summit League). Overall, Carter, Patterson, and Tyus form the conference's highest-scoring trio at 42.7 points per game.

Nebraska-Omaha trailed for 44 seconds the entire game, and opened the second half on a 14-4 run capped off by a Tyus 3-pointer to take a double-digit lead.

For the game, the Mavericks shot 56.1 percent and got to the free-throw line 38 times, making 29.

Brett Olson scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting to lead Denver (9-11, 3-4), tying Nate Rohnert for 11th on the all-time scoring list.
