Nebraska-Omaha holds off IUPUI 76-71

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Devin Patterson scored 24 points, Tre'Shawn Thurman added 21 and Nebraska-Omaha made 6 of 8 free throws in the final minute to hold off IUPUI 76-71 on Sunday.

Darell Combs hit a jumper and added two free throws to pull IUPUI (5-12, 1-1 Summit) within 70-67 with 52 seconds left. He then made a steal but the Jaguars had four misses in 10 seconds on the same possession before Thurman's free throw at the 35-second mark made it a four-point game.

Mason Archie II made it 71-69 after he was fouled on an offensive rebound at 24 seconds. Patterson answered with two free throws for the Mavericks (10-6, 2-0) before the Jags missed and Tra-Deon Hollins went to the line and made one for a 74-69 lead. Archie scored at seven seconds but Patterson clinched it with two free throws.

Marcellus Barksdale led IUPUI with 16.
