Arizona transfer Lamont ''Momo'' Jones has been granted a hardship waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play for Iona this season.

Jones, who transferred back to his native New York area after spending the past two seasons at Arizona, will have two years of eligibility with the Gaels, the school announced Thursday.

He said he transferred to be nearer to his Harlem, N.Y. home, his family and his ailing grandmother.

Jones helped the Wildcats reach the round of eight last March, averaging 9.7 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists while starting all 38 games. He appeared in 30 games as a freshman, averaging 6.6 points in 18.8 minutes and became an integral part of the Arizona rotation during the second half of the season.
