Texas sports information director Scott McConell confirmed the news to FOXSports.com.
Brown didn't qualify a year ago out of Port Arthur Memorial High (Texas) but worked on his academics for the past year and is now able to battle for the starting point guard spot with holdover Dogus Balbay and Florida transfer Jai Lucas.
The addition of Brown may fly under the radar, but he's someone that could give Rick Barnes the one piece he needs to compete for the national title this season.
Texas has a loaded frontline that includes Damion James, Dexter Pittman and Gary Johnson, and Barnes brings in a talented freshman class led by Avery Bradley and Jordan Hamilton.
