NC-Wilmington beats James Madison 78-73, remains atop CAA

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) Chris Flemmings scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and North Carolina-Wilmington never trailed and held on to beat James Madison 78-73 on Thursday night.

The Seahawks (15-5, 7-2 Colonial Athletic Association) have won six straight to keep pace with Hofstra (15-6, 7-2) atop the conference. James Madison (16-6, 6-3) had its five-game winning streak snapped.

Denzel Ingram added 14 points for North Carolina-Wilmington. Ron Curry scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Dukes.

Flemmings made a 3-pointer to stretch the Seahawks' lead to 63-48 with 4:48 to play. Winston Grays III and Devontae Morgan made consecutive 3-pointers to spark an 18-7 spurt to pull the Dukes to 70-66 with 56 seconds left. Morgan scored seven points and Curry made two 3s during the span.

The Seahawks made 8 of 10 free throws, including Flemmings' 4-for-4 shooting from the line to seal it.
