N Dakota St. holds off IUPUI for 66-60 win

FARGO, N.D. (AP) Lawrence Alexander scored 17 points to lead North Dakota State past Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis 66-60 Thursday night.

A layup by Alexander with 4:55 remaining gave NDSU a 57-45 lead before a 15-6 run - including a pair of 3s from Ja'Rob McCallum and a third by Justus Stanback - from IUPUI closed the gap to three with 32 seconds left.

Taylor Braun made 1 of 2 free throws to make it 64-60 before a missed 3-pointer and a turnover following the offensive rebound set up a dunk by Braun to close the scoring.

Braun finished with 14 points and Jordan Aaberg scored 11. Kory Brown made 5 of 5 from the field, finishing with 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.

North Dakota State was 0 for 10 from 3-point range, but shot 51.8 percent overall.

Mitch Patton scored 16 and grabbed eight rebounds for IUPUI.
