A century-old men's basketball rivalry on hold for six years resumed Saturday when North Dakota State defeated North Dakota 81-55.

Michael Tveidt had 23 points and five assists for the Bison (6-3). Freddy Coleman added 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Patrick Mitchell and Jamal Webb led the Fighting Sioux (3-6) with 12 points each.

The game - the 283rd meeting between the two schools - was played in front of 10,709 fans at the Fargodome, normally home to North Dakota State football.

The last time the teams played was 2004, when North Dakota won an overtime game on its home court. The series was halted when NDSU moved up to Division I. North Dakota stayed at Division II until three years ago.
