James Douglas scored a career-high 22 points and Northern Arizona beat Cal State Bakersfield 80-67 on Saturday night, a day after changing head coaches.
Stallon Saldivar added 16 points and seven assists for the Lumberjacks (3-7), who snapped a four-game losing streak and beat a Division-I team for the first time this season.
Mike Adras abruptly resigned Friday afternoon and 70-year-old Dave Brown, a color commentator for Northern Arizona basketball broadcasts, was named interim head coach. Adras coached 363 straight games for the Lumberjacks after taking over for current UCLA coach Ben Howland, who left for Pittsburgh in 1999.
Tyrone White led the Roadrunners (5-3) with 17 points while Zach Lamb added 16.
