Murray State pulls away from UT-Martin 86-72

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) Cameron Payne had 17 points and eight assists to lead Murray State to its fifth straight win, 86-72 over Tennessee-Martin on Thursday night.

T.J. Sapp added 20 points and five rebounds for the Racers (18-9, 12-3 Ohio Valley) who took control of a back-and-forth game with a 9-0 run midway through the second.

Sapp's free throw capped the run for a 72-62 lead with 8:30 left. The Skyhawks (8-22, 3-12) answered with four straight points to pull within six, but would get no closer.

Jarvis Williams had 14 points and nine rebounds for Murray State, with Jeffery Moss and Dexter Fields adding 12 points apiece.

Myles Taylor had 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead the way for UT-Martin. The Skyhawks tied the game twice in the first half and took their only lead of the game at 54-53 in the second.
