Move over, boys: Tom Cruise takes in women's Final Four
Sure, the Wisconsin Badgers have Aaron Rodgers and the Duke Blue Devils have Tony Romo. Hell, even the losers in the men's Final Four -- Kentucky (Ashley Judd) and Michigan State (Magic Johnson) rep some pretty strong star power in the cheering section.
But when it comes to mega-fandom, the women's game trumps all.
As the top-ranked Connecticut women beat the fellow 1-seed Maryland Terrapins in the women's Final Four on Sunday night, they did so with Tom Cruise in the crowd.
The three-time Academy Award nominee sat in a suite above the Terrapins bench and received a loud ovation from the crowd when the cameras showed him on the video board. Cameras caught him sitting with his son, Connor, and taking photos with fans, as well.
It wasn't clear who he was rooting for. Not that it mattered to UConn star Breanna Stewart, who scored 25 points to lead the Huskies to the 81-58 victory.
"No. Where was he? Oh, my gosh," she gushed after the game. "I didn't even get to meet him."
The 52-year-old Cruise has starred in several sports movies. He's played a variety of sports roles, including a football player ("All the Right Moves") and an agent ("Jerry Maguire") -- but not a basketball player or hoops coach. At least not recently.
Tom Cruise and his son Connor take in the game together at Amalie Arena.
