Julian Norfleet nailed a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left to play, lifting Mount St. Mary's (Md.) to a 56-54 win over Monmouth, N.J. on Thursday night.

The Mountaineers (8-16, 6-5 Northeast Conference) trailed 54-53 after a layup from Marcus Ware with 17 seconds to go put the Hawks in front.

A layup from Shawn Atupem gave Mount St. Mary's a 50-42 lead with 10:32 remaining, but the Mountaineers went 5:44 before making another field goal. Danny Thompson ended the drought with a layup, extending the lead to 52-48 with 4:52 left.

The Hawks (6-17, 2-9) led for a majority of the opening half and 28-26 at the break. Monmouth held two one-point leads in the second half.

Mike Myers Keitt scored 16, R.J. Rutledge had 12 and Ware 11 for the Hawks, who have lost eight of their last nine.

Lamar Trice, who assisted on the game-winning shot, led Mount St. Mary's with 15 points.
