Mount St. Joseph hoops player Lauren Hill to receive hospice care
Mount St. Joseph freshman Lauren Hill, who played two college basketball games while battling an inoperable brain tumor, has been signed on to hospice care at her Ohio home on Monday, her family announced.
"Originally this was planned to be done at the end of October or Early November but got side barred due to the big game," her family posted on the Lauren's Fight for Cure Facebook page. "We are excited to have additional resources coming to our home. We have already been able to get supplies to help make things easier here at home."
The post reported that Hill's headaches had flared up more than usual, but "Overall she has been in good spirits this week and staying busy with special projects."
Hill made two layups in a Division III basketball game with Mount St. Joseph on Nov. 2 despite the tumor, which was diagnosed a year ago. She then scored again during a second game Nov. 21. The college freshman also has helped to raise more than $324,000 for cancer research and treatment.
