Former Seton Hall star John Morton has been hired as an assistant to new Fordham coach Tom Pecora.

Morton was an assistant at St. Peter's for the past four seasons. The Peacocks finished with 16 wins and were in fourth place in the MAAC.

He was a four-year starter for Seton Hall from 1985-89 and scored 1,621 points in 131 games. He led the team in scoring with a 17.3 average in 1988-89 when Seton Hall reached the NCAA title game. He scored a game-high 35 points in the Pirates' 80-79 overtime loss to Michigan.

He selected in the first round of the NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and played three seasons in the NBA.

Pecora was hired away from Hofstra to take over a team that was 2-26 last season.
