Reggie Holmes scored 18 points and Morgan State defeated Towson 80-64 on Saturday to extend the Bears' winning streak to eight games. Morgan State (18-10), which never trailed, took a 39-30 halftime lead. Jermaine Bolden scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half. The Tigers (9-20) opened the second half with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to four, but pulled no closer as Holmes hit a 3-pointer. The Bears grabbed 51 rebounds - 35 defensively. Morgan State, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference leader, hadn't faced its crosstown rival since Nov. 28, 2005, when Towson won 71-66 to even the series at 11-11. Fifteen of the previous games were decided by nine points or fewer. Marquise Kately added 16 points for the Bears. Kevin Thompson had 12 and Rogers Barnes scored 10. Jarrel Smith led Towson with 21 points and Rocky Coleman added 13.
