Reggie Holmes scored 25 points and Morgan State defeated defending champion and cross-town rival Coppin State in the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament on Friday night. Holmes scored 21 points in the first half to push Morgan State (22-11) to a 36-22 lead at halftime. The Bears went on to lead by as many as 18 points in the second half. Returning to the championship for the second straight year, the top-seeded Bears will play the winner of Friday night's Norfolk State-South Carolina State semifinal on Saturday. Jermaine Bolden and Rogers Barnes scored 17 points each and Marquise Kately tallied 10 rebounds for the Bears. Tywain McKee, the MEAC player of the year, scored 30 for the fifth-seeded Eagles (13-19).
