Morehead State beats Jacksonville State 82-71

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) Xavier Moon scored a career-high 25 points and made all eight of his free throws to help Morehead State beat Jacksonville State 82-71 on Saturday and win its sixth straight game.

Treshaad Williams scored a career-high 15, Lyonell Gaines added 15 and Miguel Dicent had 11 points for the Eagles (18-11, 11-5), who maintained their second place standing in the Ohio Valley Conference's East Division.

Tied at 36 at halftime, Moon scored six straight points and Morehead State pulled ahead 51-46 on his jumper with 12:21 left.

Greg Tucker hit back-to-back 3-pointers to pull the Gamecocks within 61-57 with 6:26 left, but the Eagles led 72-63 on Dicent's jumper with 2:10 to go. Morehead State made eight free throws in the final 54 seconds.

Tucker hit seven 3-pointers and scored 36 points - both career highs - for Jacksonville State (8-23, 4-12), which has lost eight in a row.
