Kenneth Faried scored 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting and Morehead State cruised to a 90-49 season-opening victory over Asbury College on Friday night.

Morehead State missed 13 of its first 14 shots, but Faried got them going with a layup, a jumper and a dunk during a 10-0 run that erased an eight-point lead by Asbury.

Asbury, an NAIA school that had won one of its first three games but counted this one as an exhibition, kept it close and grabbed its final lead, 22-21, with 6:58 left in the half. But Ty Proffitt hit a jumper and five free throws as Morehead State closed the half with an 11-0 run for a 32-22 lead.

Asbury got within eight, 36-28, in the second half before a 16-3 Morehead State run put it out of reach.
