Morehead St. 62, Ball St. 54
Terrance Hill scored 12 points and Ty Proffitt added 11 as the only Morehead State players in double figures, and the Eagles overcame a rough shooting performance to hold off Ball State 62-54 on Friday night.
The Eagles (6-7) won despite shooting just 38.8 percent from the floor (19 of 49) compared to a 44.7 percent mark (17 of 38) for Ball State.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 6-0 lead but, midway through the opening half, Morehead State answered back as Hill's first jumper sparked a 22-6 run. The Eagles led the rest of the way.
Morehead State led 28-22 at halftime and outscored Ball State 34-32 in the second half.
Ball State pulled within three points, 56-53, with 47 seconds left after Randy Davis' 3-pointer. But the Eagles went 8-for-8 from the foul line in the final minute.
Tyrae Robinson led the Cardinals (6-4) with 14 points.
