Moody's 22 leads Bethune-Cookman past NC Central 69-61

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Mario Moody scored 22 points with a season-best four assists and Ricky Johnson made all four of his free throws in the last half minute as Bethune-Cookman won its fourth straight game 69-61 over North Carolina Central on Saturday.

Johnson finished with 15 points with three 3-pointers and Jordan Potts added 12 points with six assists for Bethune Cookman (13-16, 9-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).

Jeremiah Ingram, who led NC Central with 19 points, hit a 3-pointer with 1:18 left to pull the Eagles (11-17, 6-8) within 65-61 and then called time. Dante Holmes added 17 points, draining five 3-pointers.

After the huddle, the Eagles forced a Moody turnover on a Holmes steal, but couldn't capitalize. Moody blocked Patrick Cole as N.C. Central missed its last three shots.

Bethune-Cookman has a shot for fourth seed and a first-round bye into the MEAC tournament with two games left to play.
