Montana State outlasts Cal State-Fullerton 80-76

Bobby Howard had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Erik Rush added 17 points as Montana State beat Cal State Fullerton in the Rainbow Classic on Monday night.

Rod Singleton had 11 points and eight assists for Montana State (2-1), which trailed by eight in the first half.

The Bobcats led 67-57 with 6:28 remaining, but Orane Chin had five points and two assists during a 10-2 run to get the Titans within two.

Jourdain Allou's putback off a missed free throw put Montana State up 76-71 with 36 seconds remaining. The Bobcats hit four free throws in the final 20 seconds to seal the win.

The Titans (0-3) started four players 6-foot-1 and shorter. Steve Jurich, a 6-7 forward, sat out with a back injury. Montana State held a 37-31 advantage on the boards.

Chin finished with 24 points and Devon Peltier had 19 for Cal State-Fullerton.
