Brian Qvale had 27 points and 18 rebounds and Will Cherry scored 22 to lead Montana over Oregon State 71-66 on Wednesday night.
Despite leading for most of the game, the Grizzlies (6-4) had to hold off a late charge by the Beavers (4-5). Cherry sealed the deal as he drove for a layup with 26 seconds left.
Qvale buoyed Montana's attack in the first half, scoring 21 of its 35 points. He also had a game-high five blocks.
Cherry, who leads the NCAA with 4.1 steals per game, had five against the Beavers.
Angus Brandt and Roberto Nelson each came off the Oregon State bench to tie for team scoring honors with 13 points. Oregon State's bench outscored the Grizzlies' 45-3.
Although the Beavers tied it twice in the second half, Montana pulled away late by holding Oregon State to one field goal in the final 3 minutes.
