Missouri-St. Louis denies Statham milestone

ST. LOUIS (AP) Hunter Reine scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Missouri-St Louis to an 86-82 win over McKendree, denying coach Harry Statham his record-breaking 1,099th win.

Statham, 78, is tied with legendary Tennessee women's coach Pat Summitt for the most wins ever by a coach at a four-year school. He is in his 50th season coaching the Bearcats and has 475 losses.

Tre Ogles added 16 points, Brandon Marquardt had 14 and Joshua Webster scored 12 points with eight assists and four blocks for the Tritons (9-12, 3-9 Great Lakes Valley Conference), who led 47-46 at the half.

David Franklin had 21 points and Darin Winkelman had 19 for the Bearcats (10-10, 3-9), with Nate Michael adding 18 and Michael Jackson 17.
