Adam Leonard hit a 3-pointer with 48.2 seconds left to break the game's only tie and lead Missouri State to a 69-64 win over Wichita State on Saturday and its first regular season Missouri Valley Conference title since joining the league two decades ago.

Leonard scored 17 points and hit 5-of-10 3s to lead four Bears in double figures. Jermaine Mallett added 18 points, and Will Creekmore had 13. Kyle Weems scored 11 points and added nine rebounds for Missouri State (23-7, 15-3), which is seeking its first NCAA tournament bid since 1999.

David Kyles connected on 5-of-9 shots from long range and scored 20 points for the Shockers (23-7, 14-4).

The teams could meet again next week in the conference tournament in St. Louis.
