MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Minnesota shooting guard Andre Hollins injured his left ankle Wednesday, forcing him out of the game against ninth-ranked Wisconsin just 16 seconds in.

Hollins swished a 15-foot jumper on the first possession, but his left foot landed on Josh Gasser of the Badgers on the way down. His ankle rolled hard, and he writhed around in pain for a bit before being helped off the court without any weight on the left foot.

Hollins was wearing a walking boot afterward. He'll have an MRI Thursday.

''We'll hope for the best,'' coach Richard Pitino said.

The junior shooting guard is the leading scorer for the Gophers, averaging 16.2 points per game entering the night. Hollins was already bothered by a toe injury that has limited some of his explosiveness.
