Milliken's late 3 helps Creighton edge Marquette 65-62

MILWAUKEE (AP) James Milliken made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:04 left to help Creighton beat Marquette 65-62 on Saturday night.

Milliken's 3 gave Creighton a 63-62 lead. Traci Carter missed a jumper on Marquette's next possession, and then Isaiah Zierden added two free throws with seven seconds remaining to cap the scoring. Duane Wilson's potential game-tying 3-pointer hit the rim with three seconds left to end it.

Maurice Watson Jr. had 18 points and 10 assists to lead Creighton (17-9, 8-5 Big East). Geoffrey Groselle added 10 points and Milliken chipped in nine.

Henry Ellenson scored 16 points to lead four in double figures for Marquette (16-10, 5-8).

Creighton led 40-35 with 15:35 remaining before Sandy Cohen III made a 3 and Ellenson added a jumper to tie it at 40.

Neither team had more than three-point lead the rest of the way.
