Middle Tennessee holds off FIU 70-68

MIAMI (AP) Jaqawn Raymond scored just two points Saturday, but it was the game-winning basket as Middle Tennessee beat Florida International University 70-68.

Neiko Hunter scored 25, Shawn Jones 23, and Middle Tennessee (17-7, 7-2 Conference USA) out-rebounded the Golden Panthers 34-25.

The lead flip-flopped seven times until Jones put Middle Tennessee up 17-16 with a free throw, kicking off a 10-2 run, and Middle Tennessee led 39-30 at halftime.

FIU clawed back, tying the game at 51 on a 3-pointer by Rakeem Buckles, then tied it again at 68 on free throws by Jerome Frink with 1:31 to play. Raymond came off the Middle Tennessee bench and scored a layup for a 70-68 lead with 30 seconds to play. FIU's Cody Mann missed a 3-pointer and time expired.

Frink led FIU (12-12, 4-5) with 18, Dannis Mavin had 15, Buckles 12, and Tymell Murphy 11.
