Michigan State Basketball: Final score predictions vs. Iowa

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:15 p.m. ET

Michigan State basketball hosts Iowa on Saturday night and here’s what the Spartan Avenue believes the final score will be.

Michigan State has a critical game approaching on Saturday night as Iowa comes to town. The Hawkeyes, like the Spartans, are sitting squarely on the bubble heading into the middle of February, looking to make a final impression before the start of the NCAA Tournament.

The Spartans are coming off their worst loss of the season at Michigan and will need to rebound with a victory over Iowa. Michigan State is still in the running for a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament and a win here could help secure that.

Let’s take a look at what the Spartan Avenue staff believes the final score will be.

Connor Muldowney: While Iowa is a team that can’t be overlooked, you can bet Tom Izzo didn’t forget last year’s two-game sweep the Hawkeyes pulled off on the Spartans. Michigan State is going to come out aggressive against Iowa and Jok will be held in check early on. He’s going to get his buckets like he always does, but the Spartans will have the last laugh. Bridges and Ward will combine for 35 points and 17 rebounds.

Final: Iowa 61, Michigan State 69

Ryan McCumber: Michigan State was embarrassed Tuesday night. This game against Iowa is almost a must win. The Hawkeyes lost a heart breaker against Minnesota in their last game. Iowa is a very young team, but they are led by senior Peter Jok who should be up for conference player of the year honors along with Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan. It seems that the Spartans played their worst game of the year in Ann Arbor Tuesday. I expect MSU to get back to its winning ways and for Miles Bridges to have a monster game.

Final: Iowa 71, Michigan State 79

Adam Zdroik: The last time the Spartans were truly embarrassed (Penn State loss), they came out and dominated Minnesota. Iowa will likely give them some trouble, but MSU cannot lose this game. No one knows who will stop Peter Jok (Alvin Ellis, please), but that doesn’t matter. Michigan State will come out with a purpose and Jok could score 30-plus points without it mattering.
Final: Iowa 63, Michigan State 73

Joe Clifford: In a must-win game for the Spartans they won’t have an answer for Peter Jok. A big game for Miles Bridges will keep the game close, but Iowa will deliver a big blow to Michigan State’s tournament chances.
