Michigan State AD Hollis will head NCAA hoops committee in 2016
INDIANAPOLIS -- Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis will be the vice chairman of the NCAA Division I men's basketball committee this season and lead the selection of the field of 68 for the 2016-17 season.
The NCAA named Hollis to the position on Tuesday.
During Hollis' tenure at Michigan State, the men's basketball team has appeared in 18 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, advancing to seven Final Fours and winning the national championship under coach Tom Izzo in 2000.
Hollis helped create the "BasketBowl" game played in 2003 between the Spartans and Kentucky at Ford Field in Detroit that attracted 78,129 fans. He also orchestrated the first basketball game played on a flight deck of an aircraft carrier, which matched Michigan State and North Carolina in 2011.
