Michigan sports Facebook pages off-topic after possible hack
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) The University of Michigan says its Facebook pages for football and basketball have been hacked, with risque photos appearing in a series of morning posts.
Posts from the official accounts were made Wednesday promoting links to photos of celebrities and other subjects. Then, a couple hours after school officials worked with Facebook administrators to resolve the problem, more off-color posts appeared.
Posts on the department's Twitter account said the pages were hacked.
Nikki Sunstrum, the school's social media director, told The Ann Arbor News in an email it was ''an unprecedented issue, and we are taking all necessary precautions to protect the safety and security of our other numerous social media properties.'' She added officials are working with Facebook to identify the source of the breach and take preventative steps.
