Mercer 83, Samford 78
Langston Hall scored led four players in double-figures with 18 points as Mercer rallied to beat Samford 83-78 in overtime on Wednesday night.
Justin Cecil scored 13 points, Jakob Gollon added 12 and Travis Smith finished with 10 for the Bears.
Mercer (5-3) opened up a four point lead, 77-73 within the first 40 seconds of the overtime period. Hall took advantage of Samford missing their first three attempts in overtime, knocking down a 3-pointer to extend Mercer's lead to 80-73.
Samford (1-5) closed the gap to two, 80-78, with 49 seconds left but Hall hit three free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Samford showed poor shot selection in overtime as the Bulldogs took nine shots from the field, but were only 1 of 7 from 3-point range.
Jeffrey Merritt and Will Cook paced Samford with 17 each.
