McNeese State rallies to beat New Orleans 72-69

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Ledrick Eackles had 20 points and sparked a McNeese State comeback in the final 5 minutes for a 72-69 victory against New Orleans on Sunday.

McNeese State (8-17, 6-7 Southland Conference) trailed 61-53 with 5:20 left before going on an 18-4 run to lead 71-65 with a minute to go. Eackles scored 11 straight Cowboys points during that stretch.

Cory Dixon scored a three-point play for New Orleans (10-11, 7-6), and then made another free throw with 27 seconds left to cut the deficit to 71-69.

Adrian Fields made a free throw for McNeese State with 15 seconds left, and Christavious Gill's 3-point attempt for UNO fell short in the final seconds.

Kevin Hardy had 12 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, six steals and three blocks for McNeese State.

Dixon had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Privateers. Isaac Mack added 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
