Maryland-Eastern Shore blows by Savannah St, 87-57

PRINCE ANNE, Md. (AP) Devin Martin scored 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field and pulled down six rebounds to lead Maryland-Eastern Shore to an 87-57 victory over Savannah State on Saturday.

Michael Myers finished with 20 points and eight rebounds for the Shore Hawks (10-9, 3-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who have not been over .500 this late in the season since 1996.

The Shore Hawks shot 54 percent from the field, including 8 of 15 from 3-point range. Defensively they held Savannah State, the conferences worst team from downtown, to just 25 percent (3 of 12).

After building a 39-25 lead at the half, Maryland-Eastern Shore opened the second period on a 19-9 scoring stretch, capped by two Myers free throws to push its lead past 20.

Demarcus Bryant scored 13 points to lead Savannah State (4-13, 0-3), which has lost three straight and eight out of nine.
