D.D. Scarver (18 points) posted his ninth straight game in double figures and Marshall used a big second-half run to pull away and beat Savannah State 64-48 Wednesday night.

Dennis Tinnon made 6 of 7 shots en route to 14 points and Elijah Pittman scored 10 for Marshall, which won despite committing 19 turnovers - one less than their season high.

Marshall (7-5) took its first lead, 18-16, behind a Tinnon layup and held a slim 27-25 advantage at halftime. Savannah State (5-7) rallied to knot the game at 31-all, the sixth tie of the night, but Pittman scored back-to-back buckets in the paint and Marshall outscored the Tigers 33-17 over the final 15 minutes.

Marshall held Savannah State to 33.3 percent (21 of 63) from the field, including 0 for 7 from 3-point range, and scored 15 second-chance points.
