Tyler Wilkerson scored 18 points to lead Marshall to a 58-55 win over Tulane on Saturday night.
Wilkerson shot 7-for-11 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds for the Thundering Herd (20-7, 8-4 Conference USA), who have won five games in a row. Hassan Whiteside added 10 points and seven blocks.
Both teams stayed close for much of the contest, and a three-point play from Tulane's Kendall Timmons tied the score at 51 with 3:29 to play. But Marshall managed to jump out to a 57-52 lead after two free throws from Wilkerson with 34 seconds remaining.
Tulane trailed by only three points at the end of the game, but Kevin Sims' potential game-tying 3-point attempt was off target.
David Booker scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Tulane (7-19, 2-11).
Marshall outrebounded Tulane 40-33 and scored 15 second chance points off of 11 offensive rebounds.
