Marquette gets back Jordan practice gear
For the majority of the season, Marquette has looked like co-stars in a Michael Jordan commercial for Hanes.
After a 28-point loss at home to Iowa on Nov. 19, Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski made his Golden Eagles trade in their Jordan Brand practice gear for plain white T-shirts and regular gym shorts.
This was an effort to humble his players; to remind them everything is earned. And it worked, as Marquette won nine straight games heading into Big East play.
But Marquette's win streak has snapped at the start of conference play, dropping back-to-back games to Seton Hall and Georgetown. On Friday, Wojciechowski shifted his team's focus, returning the practice gear, according to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Golden Eagles are entering a critical stretch, facing three ranked teams -- Providence, Villanova and Xavier -- in three of their next four games.
Marquette travels to Rhode Island to take on Kris Dunn and No. 12 Providence on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on FS1.

"I thought the white T-shirts served their purpose and we worked hard in those," freshman forward Henry Ellenson said. "He gave us back our practice gear and he said, 'Grow up, it's time to be men. No more gimmicks, it's time to do work.' That's something we've got to do."
