Kidani Brutus made a 3-pointer with 2:27 remaining and Manhattan held on to beat Fairfield 53-51 on Sunday.

Brutus' long-range shot capped an 11-3 run, in which the Jaspers went 3 of 3 from the field and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line. Manhattan (10-7, 3-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Association) was just 8 of 20 from the field in the second half, but outscored the Stags 26-24 in the final 20 minutes.

After Manhattan tied it for the 11th time, 49-49, on Michael Alvarado's free throws with 3:35 left. Rakim Sanders' dunk put the Stags up 51-49 with 2:56 left.

Brutus then hit his long-range shot. Fairfield missed three shots, and Michael Alvarado made a free throw with 18 seconds left for the final margin.

George Beamon paced the Jaspers with 16 points.

Sanders had 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Stags (8-8, 3-2).
