Justin Edwards had 24 points, Alasdair Fraser notched a double-double and five Maine players finished with double-digit scoring as the Black Bears crushed Maine-Machias 113-49 in their season opener on Monday night.

Gerald McLemore scored 21 points and Fraser had 19 and grabbed 12 rebounds for Maine. Kilian Cato added 14 points and Zarko Valjarevic chipped in 13.

After both teams traded 3-pointers to open the game, Fraser threw down a dunk that began a 20-0 run that blew the contest open for the Black Bears. They never trailed, led by 31 points at the break and outscored the Clippers 50-17 in the second half in the easy win.

The Black Bears shot 69.8 percent (44 of 63) from the floor compared to just a 28.1 percent (16 of 57) mark for the Clippers.

Jeremy Tolbert scored 11 points to lead the Clippers.
