NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Damon Lynn scored 22 points, including a late six-point surge that lifted NJIT over St. Francis 68-66 on Tuesday night.

Lynn hit a go-ahead layup to cap a quick 5-0 run for a 64-62 lead with 2:28 remaining. He responded to Jalen Cannon's free throws with a pair of his own. After St. Francis' Brent Jones made a layup, Lynn was fouled on a 3-point attempt and sank two of the free throws for the lead with 1:13 left.

St. Francis went for the win late, but Tyreek Jewell missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

The Highlanders, who were coming off an upset win over then-No. 17 Michigan, shot 48.8 percent from the field. Winfield Willis had 12 points and Tim Coleman chipped in 11 for NJIT (4-5).
