Louisiana Tech stays atop C-USA standings; beats FAU 65-54

RUSTON, La. (AP) Erik McCree and Alex Hamilton scored 15 points apiece as Louisiana Tech beat Florida Atlantic 65-54 on Thursday night to remain atop the Conference USA standings.

Kenneth Smith and Michale Kyser added 10 points apiece for Louisiana Tech (19-6, 10-2). The Bulldogs forced 16 turnovers and held the Owls to 19-of-49 shooting (38.8 percent).

Hamilton's three-point play gave Louisiana Tech its largest lead of the first half at 34-18 with 3:55 left and the Bulldogs led 36-25 at the break.

Jackson Trapp scored 17 points for Florida Atlantic (8-14, 1-10). Marquan Botley added 14, and Justin Raffington had his third double-double in the last four games with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Botley pulled FAU within 55-48 with 7:23 left, but the Owls didn't score again until the 2:44 mark and trailed 61-50.
