Louisiana Tech cruises by Charlotte 80-60

RUSTON, La. (AP) Alex Hamilton scored 22 points to lead Louisiana Tech in an 80-60 win over Charlotte Thursday night.

Louisiana Tech (16-4, 4-1 Conference USA) erased an early first-half deficit to take a 40-33 halftime lead. The Bulldogs led by double digits for most of the second half and blew the game open with a 10-0 run to go up 73-50 with 5:27 remaining. Jaron Johnson highlighted the run with a dunk and a three-point play.

The Bulldogs shot 47.7 percent from the field despite shooting 4 of 19 from 3-point range. Johnson and Chris Anderson had 12 points apiece while Kenneth Smith had 13 assists for Louisiana Tech.

Pierria Henry scored 20 points for the 49ers (12-6, 3-2). Willie Clayton had 10 points and 10 rebounds while Shawn Lester added 10 points.

Louisiana Tech has won eight of its last nine, and has not dropped two in a row this season.
