Louisiana Tech beats NC Central 71-50, off to 5-0 start

RUSTON, La. (AP) Qiydar Davis scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first career double-double, helping Louisiana Tech past North Carolina Central 71-50 on Friday night, improving to 5-0 which is the program's best start since 1990 .

The Bulldogs shot 41 percent (26-64) while North Carolina Central struggled from the field, making 16 of 58 shots for 28 percent. The Eagles (1-4) made only one 3-pointer in 12 tries.

Louisiana Tech blocked 10 shots - most by the Bulldogs in a game this season. Joniah White led with a career-best four blocks. NC Central turned the ball over 22 times.

Dayon Griffin scored 11 points, a career best, for the Bulldogs. Jacobi Boykins scored 10 and has reached double figures in every game this season.

Dante Holmes scored 14 points for the Eagles, who led 27-24 at halftime, with Dajuan Graf adding 12.
