Louisiana Tech beats Charlotte, 83-82 in OT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Alex Hamilton scored four of his 29 points in overtime to help Louisiana Tech beat Charlotte 83-82 on Thursday night.

Raheem Appleby scored on a layup and Hamilton added back-to-back layups as the Bulldogs used a 6-1 surge to build a 79-74 lead with 3:00 left in overtime. Charlotte's Mike Thorne Jr. answered with a bucket to make it 79-76, but the 49ers missed their next three shots before Kenneth Smith and Appleby each made a pair of free throws to push the Bulldogs lead to 83-79 with :06 left. Pierria Henry hit a 3 for the 49ers to end it.

Michale Kyser added a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds for Louisiana Tech (21-6, 12-2, Conference USA), which has won four straight.

Braxton Ogbueze scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures for Charlotte (11-15, 4-9). Thorne finished with 13 points and 10 boards.
