Louisiana-Monroe downs Arkansas State 78-73 in overtime

MONROE, La. (AP) Majok Deng scored 27 points with five 3-pointers, Justin Roberson added 21, including five in overtime, and Louisiana-Monroe beat Arkansas State 78-73 on Saturday to win its third straight game.

Arkansas State's Devin Carter hit a jumper, but Roberson and Nick Coppola each made layups and Deng hit two free throws for a 73-69 Warhawks' lead. Frederic Dure scored a layup and the Red Wolves trailed 73-71 with 48 seconds left.

Jamaal Samuel hit a jumper and Roberson added three free throws to ice it.

Samuel scored 13 points and the Warhawks (13-12, 9-5 Sun Belt) made 14 of 36 from long distance and had six turnovers.

Roberson tied it at 67 with 1:08 left in regulation and the teams combined to miss seven field goals and two free throws before time expired.

Anthony Livingston led Arkansas State (11-14, 7-7) with 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
