Lipscomb edges SC Upstate, 77-75
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Josh Williams hit the winning 3-pointer with a second to play and scored a career-high 21 points as Lipscomb edged SC Upstate 77-75 Thursday night.
Down 71-63 with just over 2 minutes to play, Chad Johnson, Williams and J.C. Hampton each hit a 3-pointer to pull Lipscomb tp 75-72 with 1:05 to play. Following a SC Upstate turnover, Hampton scored with a layup to make it 75-74 before Williams hit his game-winning shot from beyond the arc.
Hampton also scored a career-best 21 points as Lipscomb (11-12, 6-6 Atlantic Sun) won its fourth-straight. Martin Smith scored 14 points, and Malcolm Smith added 11 for the Bisons.
Torrey Craig scored 18 points, and Ricardo Glenn added 15 with nine rebounds to lead SC-Upstate (13-11, 6-5). Fred Miller had nine points and nine assists for the Spartans.
