Liberty beats Cincinnati Christian 78-58

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) Ryan Kemrite scored 13 points, Peter Moller added 12, and Liberty used a balanced attack to defeat Cincinnati Christian 78-58 on Sunday, ending the Eagles' seven-game winning streak.

Ethan Layer scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and the Flames (6-7) outshot the Eagles 54.7 percent (29-53) to 30.3 percent (20-66). Liberty also won the rebound battle 44-32, notching their fifth straight game in which they have outrebounded their opponent.

Liberty opened with a 10-5 run in which Moller hit a 3-pointer, but Cincinnati Christian tied it at 17 with a 3-pointer by Jarrell Moses. Moller hit another 3 to spark a 12-2 run and Liberty pulled ahead to lead 34-23 at halftime.

Liberty led 54-40 after a 10-3 second-half run, then Layer hit consecutive 3-pointers and the Purple Aces pulled ahead by 20.

Mitch McLeish led Cincinnati Christian (12-6), a NAIA member, with 25 and Mac Constable added 14.
