Lehigh beats Army 82-72 behind Kempton

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) Tim Kempton scored 23 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds and Lehigh beat Army 82-72 on Saturday to win their ninth straight and to retain at least the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Patriot League tournament.

Dylan Cox had 16 points, while Kevin Ferguson and Tyler Plomb scored 14 apiece for Army (18-12, 9-9), which saw a five-game win streak end but is guaranteed to be in the tournament's top six.

Up 39-35 at halftime, Lehigh pulled further ahead on a 15-7 run capped by Austin Price's jumper with 14:40 left. Army gained on a 7-0 run, but Kempton hit a layup and Price added a 3 as the Mountain Hawks pulled ahead by 11, 68-57.

Kyle Wilson pulled the Black Knights within 77-69 with a 3-pointer, but Army got no closer.

Price scored 16 points and made five steals, Kahron Ross added 19, Kyle Leufroy had 11 and the Mountain Hawks (15-14, 13-5) shot 50.8 percent from the field.
