Lauren Hill's mom provides Christmas Eve update on valiant battle
Lauren Hill is the Mt. St. Joseph freshman basketball player who is fighting inoperable brain cancer.
Her battle has taken the national stage as she looks to raise $1 million by New Year's for research toward finding the home-run cure that would wipe out DIPG, a rare pediatric brain cancer, and all cancers.
Her mom, Lisa, posted an update on Lauren on Christmas Eve:
Lauren is still having good moments and bad ones. Yesterday she had a panic attack and she was having trouble breathing. Scarred the crap out of me. I called the hospice nurse and they came out right away. Thankfully it was just a panic attack from the pain and heavy feeling in her chest after she woke up from a nap. After some meds and oxygen she was much better.
Attached is a video we did for National Hospice Awareness. Some folks have such a hard time with the word Hospice. We see it as extra players on our medical team that keep a closer eye on Lauren's progress for the doctor. We are so thankful to have their help and support. Best part is they come to us and we don't have to drive anywhere. Lazy I know, but no more 4 hour clinic visits is sweet.
